The 2019, 2020 and 2021 GHG reports are displayed

This year, and following the work of the EcoLaas collective, the LAAS 2019, 2020 and 2021 GHG* assessments have been finalized. A summary of these 3 years has been produced.
These results were presented to the Laboratory Council on July 7, 2022: synthèse 2019-2020-2021

If you missed this presentation, but want to know everything about LAAS' carbon footprint, know that EcoLaas has summarized everything on posters (you can click on the images above to upload).

Some information and reflections on these results:

  • Gas-heating: building renovations led to a 20% decrease in carbon emissions between 2019 and 2021
  • Electricity: The LAAS bill in 2021 was €473,414, or €1061 per person. Building H is almost self-sufficient in electricity (photovoltaic)
  • Purchasing: 62% increase between 2020 and 2021. Experimental platforms represent about 75% of purchasing emissions but it is our core activities!
  • Digital purchases: why always buy a new screen? (1 screen = 430 kg eCo2, 1 laptop = 280 kg eCo2)
  • Missions: Reduced distance traveled: /5 since 2019! The most common mode of transport remains the plane
  • Home-to-work travel: 30% less km traveled between 2019 and 2021 (effect of teleworking?). We can also notice a boom in cycling: +7% in share of km traveled since 2019

Find these posters in front of the cafeteria in the hall and at the library...something to have a coffee or wait in the queue while getting information !
