Title: Event-based control for dynamical systems of finite or infinite dimensions
Keywords: Event-based control, Lyapunov’s theory, LMI, PDE
Abstract:Event-based control is a computer control strategy that aims at using communications and computational resources efficiently by updating control inputs aperiodically, only when the system becomes, roughly speaking, too unstable. Many difficulties that arise in the context of event-based control are due to the introduction of discontinuities when updating the control.
The main goal of this work is to study the static and dynamic event-triggering mechanism for finite dimensional dynamical systems and then to develop new methods and associated numerical tools to guarantee the stability of an infinite dimensional system, eg containing a Partial Differential Equation (PDE). The closed loop consists in a PDE system connected with a controller and an event-triggering mechanism. More specifically, we will show here how a stable system described by a damped wave equation remains stable if we construct an appropriate sampling law. Lyapunov’s theory and Linear Matrix Inequalities formulations will be our main tools. We will also make sure that the Zeno phenomenon (infinite updating in a finite time interval) does not occur. For future work, we aim to study event-based control for non-autonomous systems with saturating input, for the Schrödinger equation and ODE-Schrödinger cascade systems.

Title: Adaptive control for time-varying systems
Keywords: Adaptive control, passivity, stability, Lyapunov functions
Abstract: In this presentation, I will explain my work during those last few months in the MAC team. I will begin with an introduction of the adaptive command laws, following with an application on a constant current motor. Then, we will see how to improve the obtained results, and the consequences of the parameters present in the control law. I will finish by presenting the objectives of my work for the next three years among the team
