We propose to label the adaptation of NCS to Process Control as Networked Process Control Systems (NPCS). In this presentation we briefly introduce the infimal Signal-to-Noise Ratio problem and then highlight the existing connection between the SNR design and the proposed Generalized Predictive Proportional Integral (GPPI) controller that can deal with stable and unstable LTI discrete time plant models with long time delays. We then discuss recent SNR NCS results for single input multiple output (SIMO) systems motivated by the potential distributed measurement of water levels inside an experimental water micro channel by means of an optical sensor based on Fiber Bragg Gratings.
