Carole Rossi

As a researcher director at CNRS, she dedicates her career to advancing scientific knowledge and innovation in the field of metal fuels as clean energy vectors and metal/oxide reactive materials.

My group "Metal Based Energetics" at LAAS-CNRS conducts research on metal fuels as clean energy vectors and on their deployment in safety-critical systems requiring high reliability and controlled energy release. Research primarily revolves around (1) the engineering of metal based nano-energetic materials. This includes exploring novel fuel and oxidizer assemblies for advanced pyrotechnical functionnalities. (2) Design and demonstrate new safe, smart and small pyrotechnical functions/systems such as self-destructive devices. (3) Develop predictive, physics-based multiscale models of metal-fuel combustion, linking atomistic mechanisms to macroscopic energy release.

Her research endeavors have led to more than 300 publications in Q1 scientific journals.

She was awarded from European Research Council in advanced grant category in 2019 and received the Silver Medals from CNRS in 2022.
