Integrated silicon photonic sensors

Our research is dedicated to the development and application of photonic technology for the detection of gases or biomolecules, and to the integration of optical processing circuits dedicated to interferometric signals.

In the Integrated Photonics field, our research portfolio is dedicated to the development and application of photonics technology for metrology, for the detection of gas or bio-molecules and for the integration of optical processing circuits dedicated to interferometric signals. In biomolecule detections, integrated refractometric circuits with high sensitivity are developed based on long period gratings (S > 10 000nm/RIU). The molecular detection approach exploits the chemical properties of the functionalized coating used to bind to the specific biomolecules. In addition, to achieve a complete refractometric embedded system, research on integrated optical spectrometers is also undertaken. In interferometric signal processing, sharp edge filters are designed to allow frequency-to-amplitude conversion of interferometric signals. This integration provides high compactness, high resolution and better immunity to parasitic noises such as undesired temperature variation and mechanical vibration.
