Article of the Year for S4m team in Sports Engineering Journal!
The article “Quantitative Study of a Full-Scale Pedaling Mannequin for Wind Tunnel Testing,” written by Pascal Acco, Georges Soto-Romero, and Sébastien Terol of the S4M team for the Sports Engineering Journal, was named Article of the Year.
Georges Soto-Romero, Pascal Acco, and Sébastien Terol (S4M team) published the article “Quantitative study of a full-scale pedaling mannequin for wind tunnel testing,” which was selected as Article of the Year by the editorial board.
This study presents a large-scale dynamic cycling mannequin capable of reproducing controlled and repeatable pedaling movements to minimize variability in wind tunnels.
The results show that the DCM offers high repeatability, allows for the detection of significant power variations starting at 1.61 W, and highlights the influence of dynamic forces on the measurement of aerodynamic drag. These advancements make it a reliable tool for aerodynamic analysis in competitive cycling and scientific research.
