Zeina Abdallah awarded Best student paper award at the SPIE Photonics West San Francisco conference

Zeina Abdallah, third year PhD student in MOST team, has received an award at the SPIE Photonics West conference, which took place in San Francisco in February 2016. It is the "Best student paper award" of the field "Terahertz, RF, Millimeter, and Submillimeter-Wave Technology and Applications".

The corresponding presentation is entitled "Optical resonators metrology using an RF-spectrum approach", and describes an efficient measurement technique which translates the complex transfer function of a high quality factor optical resonator in the radio-frequency domain.

The measurement precision in frequency is extreme (in the range of 1 Hz) and the use of the measured data together with an analytical model allows the extraction of the resonator intrinsic and coupling parameters.
