On 29 August, at the end of the 19th World Congress of the automatic, France took over the presidency of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) for 3 years. Toulouse will host the 20th World Congress of IFAC in 2017, with the support of the entire scientific community, coordinated by the research group MACS. LAAS-CNRS is heavily involved in managing the event, Dimitri Peaucelle (MAC team) being the chairman of the organizing committee.

With 3,000 participants expected, it will be a unique opportunity to highlight the excellence of French research laboratories and to initiate cooperations with colleagues from other scientific fields and industrial partners.

Besides the fact that France is one of the few countries that hosts the World Congress for the second time, the IFAC federation will celebratre this very year its 60th anniversary. On this occasion, scientists will be asked to tell the story of automatic control, illustrate its principles and successes. All PhD students of French laboratories involved will be invited to attend workshops dedicated to present their work and participate in welcoming foreign colleagues.
