Software Defined Network (SDN)

The Internet of Things paradigm is a real revolution : redefining communications by enabling Machine-to-Machine communication, increasing dramatically the endpoint number, enabling autonomous monitoring and management by systems, improving endpoint mobility. All these communications and data transfer generate an increasing traffic over the infrastructure network. The actual network, with its protocols and physical devices, could not support an heavy traffic like this while guaranteeing applications' Quality of Service.

The Software Defined Networking paradigm, with simpler hardware and flexible management and monitoring, is a truly solution to allow the Internet to converge to IoT. The SDN belongs to the programmable network field. It separates the data and control planes, using simpler hardware devices and a central software control of the entire network. Our researches focus on guaranteeing application QoS over an SDN network in the IoT context.
