Special Session on Collaboration in Multimedia Networked Applications and GroupWare

Overview

The Euromicro workshop is a forum for interdisciplinary research and practice in computer systems, interfaces, architectures and applications. As part of the year 2000 conference in the Netherlands there will be a special session looking at cooperation, coordination and communication in multimedia networked applications and GroupWare. This session is organised as part of the Workshop on Multimedia and Telecommunication.

 



Background

The purpose of this session is to bring together researchers, and practitioners working on cooperation, coordination and communication in Multimedia Networked Applications and GroupWare. The session serves as a forum enabling experience exchange between academia and industry as well as between researchers working in the different multimedia and groupware research branches.

Any questions regarding submissions for this session should be made (ideally via email) to one of the session coordinators , but full papers should be sent to the Programme Chair directly (Claude Ghaoui).

Submission of Papers

There is no restriction on the number or type of submissions. For technical papers, both regular papers and short contributions are invited. Authors should send their full paper to the Programme Chair directly as: 1) a PostScript version by Email, and 2) four copies by Post. The papers should not exceed 4000 words and should include an abstract of up to 150 words. The title page should be separate and clearly show the name, full mailing address, e-mail and fax number of the author to contact, as well as the topic areas of the submitted paper. Papers will be blind-refereed by three reviewers who are expert in the domain area. Accepted papers will appear in the proceedings which will be published by the IEEE Computer Society and be available at the conference. Papers exceeding 8 pages will be charged NLG 100 per page in excess.

The following signed statement should be included on the cover page: "Neither this paper nor any version close to it has been or is being offered elsewhere for publication. All necessary clearances have been obtained for the publication of this paper. If accepted, the paper will be made available in Camera-ready forms by June 15th, 2000, and it will be personally presented at the EUROMICRO 2000 Conference by the author or one of the co-authors. The presenting author(s) will pre-register for EUROMICRO 2000 before the due date of the Camera-ready paper."

 



Journal Publication for Best Papers

In addition, selected best papers will be considered for journal publication. Authors of these papers will be advised on submitting extended versions of their originals for this purpose. Journals offered are:

 



Other Submissions

Special Sessions, Panels, Half-day or 1-day tutorials and Short Courses (90-180 minutes) on related topics are welcomed. Companies and students working on Projects of different levels (undergrad., postgrad. or industrially-oriented) are invited to participate in a Project Showcase. Submission and reviewing will follow the same procedure of the regular papers. Email the proposal to the programme chair, including: your submission title and aims, targeted audience, your plan of how to make it a success, short CV and full contact address of the proposer (with email) and any other supporting information. For special sessions or panels, please include a detailed Call for Papers/Participation.

 



Keynote Speaker

Prof. H. Maurer, Institute for Information Processing and Computer Supported Media, Technical University Graz, Austria. His main research areas are: multimedia systems; E. publishing, Web based learning; telematic; computer networks; CAL; computer supported media & social implications. He is the author of fourteen books, over 450 scientific contributions and dozens of multimedia products. He is the project manager of a number of multimillion-dollar projects.
