Abstract

A project in innovation technology for the advancement of smart home to help elderly is conducted. The aim is to anticipate the dangerous situations that may happen at home (fall, restlessness, fainting, running away etc.) trough individual data collection and analysis of movement trajectories. This paper describes a conceptual space/time model of movement trajectories (beginning, end, stop and move). These models can be used for danger prevention in smart home. Results are presented for apartment scenarios and individual movement trajectories.

Abstract

AbstractOURSES" project, French acronym for Offer of Services Rural Use using Satellite, proposes three telemedicine applications linked to services for elderly people. It focuses particularly on the use of satellites as a complement to terrestrial technologies to ensure the deployment of tele-services in areas where telecommunication infrastructure is lacking. This paper describes the three telemedicine applications which can be viewed as tele-monitoring systems for elderly people.

Abstract

Measurement, control and monitoring systems are increasingly complex and may require various disciplinary skills. Producing such systems requires rigorous design methodology and the right tools. It is with this in mind that the design and formal verification HiLes tool [1] was developed. This methodological design and verification process was used in this work to design a complex system dedicated to the intelligent home comfort management. It is built into the system engineering process defined by EIA-632, which uses UML and SYSML standards to identify the requirements, model the control logics of the system and formally validate its dynamic properties, all in a semi-automated way. In this paper, we present the various design phases according to this method as well as the results of formal verification of the complete system dynamic behavior.

Abstract

In the era of information technology, the elderly and disabled can be monitored with numerous intelligent devices. Sensors can be implanted into their home for continuous mobility assistance and non-obtrusive disease prevention. Modern sensor-embedded houses, or smart houses, cannot only assist people with reduced physical functions but help resolve the social isolation they face. They are capable of providing assistance without limiting or disturbing the resident's daily routine, giving him or her greater comfort, pleasure, and well-being. This article presents an international selection of leading smart home projects, as well as the associated technologies of wearable/implantable monitoring systems and assistive robotics. The latter are often designed as components of the larger smart home environment. The paper will conclude by discussing future challenges of the domain.

Abstract

This article presents the deployment of a continuous monitoring system for the elderly. The persons concerned live in a medicalized retirement home in a rural area. This study is part of a national experiment using satellite communication links for remote monitoring. After a brief description of the infrastructure, the paper exposes the first results obtained for help with medical diagnosis based on the subjects activity through learning his lifestyle. Some time slots are highlighted in which normality thresholds of behavior are defined. The excess of these thresholds allows reporting of a deviant behavior or a high risk situation for the subject.
