Abstract

This paper proposes a method to design stabilizing state feedback control laws for nonlinear quadratic systems subject to input saturation. Based on a quadratic Lyapunov function and a modified sector condition, synthesis conditions in a quasi-LMI form are stated in a regional (local) context. An LMI-based optimization problem is then derived for computing the state feedback gains maximizing the stability region of the closed-loop system.

Abstract

The influence of neglected dynamics appearing as multiplicative uncertainties on a closed-loop system with input and output saturations is studied. Constructive conditions based on (possibly linear) matrix inequalities, are provided in order to compute the influence of these beforehand neglected dynamics on both the estimate of the closed-loop system basin of attraction and the performance. The case of practical interest of neglected flexible modes and sensor dynamics is presented.

Abstract

Based on a recent description of deadzone nonlinearities via local sector conditions, a new LMI characterization is proposed in this paper to compute static and full- or fixed-order anti-windup compensators for possibly open-loop unstable plants. The originality of this approach rests on the use of a specific performance criterion which is inspired by the View the MathML source framework. A significant part of the paper is then devoted to a challenging control problem which involves both magnitude and rate limitations. As an important point in this illustrative part, implementation and robustness issues of the anti-windup device are thoroughly discussed.
