History of the Carnot Institutes Network

This network was created by the French Ministery of Research to:
  • develop of partenarial research
  • bring closer public research and enterprises
Timescale :
  • 2002 – 2005 : start of the initiative - exchanges and joint views from public research organizations and industries
  • 2004 - 2005 : Carnot sytem set-up and 1st call for candidates,
  • 2006 :
    • ANR (French National Research Agency) set as operator of the programme,
    • 2nd call for candidates by ANR.
  • 2006 - 2007 : creation of the "Association des instituts Carnot", for:
    • « Carnot standards » development and promotion (I.P. Chart, full costs, contractualisation, share of good practices, …)
    • Actions mutualization for research means optimization
    • The construction of coordinated international relations
