After the thesis
Yves Deswarte, Directeur de Recherche at LAAS-CNRS, passed away on Monday 27th January 2014.
The Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance research group at LAAS-CNRS (TSF) has lost one of its most prominent researchers on dependable and secure computing. Yves has been a pioneer in computer security at LAAS-CNRS, and a renowned researcher both in France and worldwide.

The European Research Council, ERC, has just published the results of the Advanced Grant 2013 call. Jean-Paul Laumond, senior researcher in the field of robotics at LAAS-CNRS, has been selected for his project Actanthrope : Computational Foundations of Anthropomorphic Action.
Biophysical investigation of chromosome folding and dynamics
Chromosomes direct the compaction of long DNA fragments in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. The rules that govern the folding of chromosomes are progressively uncovered owing to the development of modern high-throughput genome-wide molecular biology techniques.

Launching SPOT, seminars on Optimization
Inspired by the FIOS of the University of Toronto and the SPO at the Henri Poincare Institute in Paris, the SPOT (Pluridisciplinary Optimization Seminar in Toulouse) seminar will run monthly, with two talks of different type. Next SPOT on March 18th.
