FAST (Formation for Atmospheric Science and Technology demonstration) is a joint Dutch-Chinese formation flying mission managed by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands and Tsinghua University in China. During the 2.5-year mission, the two satellites, FAST-D(being developed in Delft) and FAST-T(being developed in Beijing), will demonstrate various new technologies such as autonomous formation flying with distributed propulsion systems and MEMS technology to optimize propellant consumption.
The talk will be a brief overview of this and related projects at the chair of Space Systems Engineering at TUDelft.
The space activities of the group cover three aspects: Nanosatellites; Microsatellites and Distributed Systems; Miniaturized components. All the activities are based on a three-step strategy: research, develop and fly. The roadmap, current and completed projects including flight missions will be introduced.
